A home-grown Rhondda company is fast becoming a major force in the aircraft industry, supplying its services to both Contour Premium Aircraft Seating in Cwmbran and Aircraft Materials/Irvin GQ in Llangeinor. They are also finding great success supplying the automotive industry as well as an increasing base of other engineering companies. The Company South Wales Metal Finishing, which was founded by Managing Director Steve Demaid, provides electro-plating, anodising and polishing services to a wide range of businesses across South Wales. Quality driven and flexible, the Company can undertake high specification large production runs for major multi- nationals, as well as bespoke one off jobs for the public customer. Despite the threat of low-price / low-quality, overseas suppliers, South Wales Metal Finishing’s quality ethos and professional service has put them at the forefront of a very competitive industry. The Company has made substantial capital investment in their operation, together with the valued assistance of RCT and the Welsh National Assembly in the form of various grants, to increase the range of larger jobs they can undertake, including the purchase of two automatic barrel and rack plating plants. A progressive, forward-thinking, responsible company, they have also focused on environmental issues. Participation in a Hyder Energy Conservation programme encouraged them to install a thermo fluid heating system which has resulted in a reduction in costs and improved heating and lighting for the company. They achieved ISO 9001;2000 quality accreditation last year which has helped open up doors in a number of business sectors, particularly automotive.
